When I moved to Germany, it happened many times that I showed up at work, only to realize that it was a holiday. You might ask: why didn’t you simply add the holidays to your calendar? Well, at work we used Outlook as our main calendar which by default does not mark the holidays of your region. But that’s not the main issue.

Surprisingly, when you search: “how to add holidays to Outlook calendar on MacOS,” all you get are instructions on either an old version of Outlook or, the Windows version of Outlook. Even ChatGPT makes this mistake when you ask this question. But it’s much simpler than the feeling you get when hit this annoying thorny wall.

How to add holidays to your Outlook Calendar on MacOS in two steps

All you need to do for adding holidays to your Mac Outlook calendar is to download the .ics file of the holiday you want, and import it into your current calendar. That’s it. Now let’s have a deep dive. I’ll use Germany for the sake of example.
